Bi-Therm Immersion Thermometer

We offer this nifty little thermometer for sale here at Hunter Bay because water temperature is a key component of good coffee brewing. Water that is too hot brews coffee that tastes scorched. If the brewing water isn’t hot enough, the coffee will taste sour and acidic.
Proper brewing temperature for coffee is between 190° – 202°F. If you brew with a French Press, immerse the stem of the thermometer in your brewing water as it heats. Remove the water from the heat source at 202°F and pour into your pot— the water will loose some heat as it’s poured, but should stay well above the lower limit of 190°F.
Designed for use in commercial kitchens, the Bi Therm is sturdy and reliable. It comes in a protective pocket case, and can be adjusted to an accuracy of +/- 1% or better (instructions for recalibration are included).
This simple instrument will help you to refine your brewing method and improve the quality of your freshly roasted Hunter Bay Coffee.
