Dominican Republic
- Vendor: Hunter Bay
- Type: Single Origin
Medium Roast: Dominican Republic is a lean, medium-bodied cup with lush aromas of nutmeg and chocolate, a steadily blossoming bouquet of ripe apricots, and delicate flavors of cocoa and raisin that extend on the palate. The rich flavor tones and slightly dry finish of honey and licorice make this Hunter Bay exclusive equally delicious enjoyed brewed or as a classy single-origin espresso from your home machine.
Dominican Republic is shade-grown on the Jamamucito Estate, located on the north slopes of the island’s Central Mountains. Over one-quarter of the 500-acre Estate is set aside as an preserve for bamboo and hardwood trees, creating a thriving habitat for hundreds of tropical bird species. The coffee crop is grown near Pico Duarte, the Caribbean’s highest mountain, at altitudes from 4,100 to 4,900 feet. With its sweet chocolate aromas and flavors of cocoa and raisins, this Dominican Republic compares well with its more famous Caribbean cousins such as the Jamaican Blue Mountain Estates and the rare Blue Arabicas of Haiti.
Roasting Notes:
We roast Dominican Republic to a medium Viennese roast to accentuate the rich cocoa and raisin flavors and to enhance the long aftertaste.
