Dark Roast: The Indonesian island of Sumatra is known for producing thick, earthy, full-flavored coffees with tropical fruit aromas. Slightly lighter in body than the most Sumatran coffees, Hunter Bay’s 100% Certified Organic Sumatra is low in acid, sweet, and loaded with the pungent, earthy flavors classic to Sumatran coffees—burnt sugar, molasses and brown sugar with a soft dry finish and a lingering smooth chocolate aftertaste.

Roasting Notes:
We take Sumatra to a full-term French Roast. The dark roast preserves the coffee’s classic flavor and body elements and enhances the natural sugar content and sweet fruit and spice characteristics and results in a stout brew with notes of burnt sugar, molasses and brown sugar.

Tasting Notes:
Aroma – Pungently sweet with notes of molasses, burnt sugar and vanilla.
Acidity – Very low acidity, dominated by rounded flavors of brown sugar and malt.
Flavor – Round, full vanilla notes & brown sugar, with a hint of dark chocolate & malt.
Body – Full with a foundation of sweet flavors.
Aftertaste – Sweet essence of brown sugar and spice.
Balance – Dominant thick body with a slightly earthy finish.
